In this outlandish comedy set in 1970s America, Ewan McGregor stars as a reporter who finds himself caught up in the romances of war after his failed marriage leaves him dispirited. Whilst chasing the story which is going to make his career, he ends up getting more than he bargains when meeting a special forces agent named Lyn Cassady (George Clooney). This agent transpires to be a member of a highly classified military unit tentatively titled ‘U.S. Army's First Earth Battalion’. The collective have a very unusual stance in that they specialise in psychic powers and strive to end all war by non-violent means.

However, problems arise when the founding member of the unit (Jeff Bridges) goes astray and twists the mission for his own ends. Kevin Spacey also stars as Larry Hooper, a former psychic soldier who is running a prison camp in Iraq.

Eccentricity and quirkiness abound in this star-studded production based on the book by Jon Ronson. Positively brimming over with humour, ‘The Men Who Stare At Goats’ explores the connections between paranormal military programs and psychological techniques used for interrogation in the War on Terror, post 9/11. 

The fantastic score-only soundtrack is written by Rolfe Kent, composer of sountracks for Wedding Crashers, About Schmidt, Freaky Friday, Election, The Matador, 17 Again , Reign Over Me , Thank You for Smoking, The Hunting Party, The Lucky Ones and Gun Shy to name but a few. He was also nominated for a Golden Globe Award in the "Best Original Score" category for Sideways.
